PRC Professional Board of Medicine Conducts Inspection at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Professional Board of Medicine conducted a physical inspection and monitoring at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) on January 20, 2025.

The PRC delegation was headed by the Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) of Medicine Chairman Dr. Efren C. Laxamana, PRB Member Dr. Martha O. Nucum, and PRC NCR Regulation Division Representatives Angel Anne M. Detuya and Cherry Rose S. Ecoben.

They were welcomed by PCMC Management and Medical Services Department, led by Officer-In-Charge Executive Director Dr. Maria Eva I. Jopson, Deputy Executive Director for Hospital Support Services Dr. Cecilia O. Gan, and Deputy Executive Director for Education, Training, and Research Services Dr. Mary Ann C. Bunyi.

The said initiative was in accordance with Republic Act (RA) 8981, also known as the PRC Modernization Act of 2000, which guides the regulation and supervision of the practice of medicine in our country.

The primary goal of the inspection was to assess compliance with the laws, rules, and regulations that govern the practice of medicine in PCMC. As the regulatory body, the PRC Professional Board of Medicine plays a vital role in safeguarding the public interest and upholding the integrity of the medical profession.

During the inspection, the officers from PRB focused on the following objectives: 1. Compliance Verification: to ensure that medical practitioners of PCMC adhere to the established laws, rules, and regulations of the medical profession; 2. Credential Assessment: to verify the qualifications and credentials of the medical practitioners and confirm if they are fit to provide healthcare services; 3. Facility Inspection: which includes examining medical facilities and equipment to ensure these meet required safety and operational standards; and 4. Service Monitoring: to assess the provision of medical services and that these are delivered safely, effectively, and in line with established healthcare guidelines.

Through this comprehensive inspection, the PRC Professional Board of Medicine emphasizes its commitment to ensuring that medical practitioners at PCMC deliver high-quality services in accordance with established healthcare standards.
