PCMC: Charting new horizons as an Island of Good Governance
The Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) reached another historic milestone as it was formally awarded as an Island of Good Governance (IGG) during the Institute for Solidarity in Asia’s (ISA) Public Governance Forum held at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City on November 28, 2024.
The prestigious title reflects the institution’s transformative efforts under the leadership of Executive Director Dr. Sonia B. Gonzalez, who championed the adoption of the Performance Governance System (PGS).
“This momentous award mirrors the dedication and commitment of every unit of the medical center in achieving their deliverables,” said Executive Director Gonzalez, who also congratulated everyone.
Guided by this framework, PCMC institutionalized reforms that improved operational efficiency, enhanced patient care, and promoted transparency, paving the way for the hospital to be recognized as an Apex or End-Referral Hospital.
Building on this achievement, PCMC has set its sights on its 2026-2030 Roadmap, which aims to elevate the institution to the ASEAN level of healthcare leadership. The roadmap emphasizes innovation in pediatric healthcare, sustainable practices, and developing world-class facilities, including establishing new specialized centers.
PCMC will strive to continue its legacy of impactful governance and exceptional service, ensuring that every Filipino child receives the best care possible.
The IGG award is a formal recognition of public institutions that have successfully attained breakthrough results felt by their external stakeholders, the Filipino people. Institutions declared as IGG serve as beacons of light for other public sector organizations, illuminating the path towards the Dream Philippines.
