About the Section of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition

The Philippine Children’s Medical Center’s Section of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition was established in 1995 to address the rising cases of pediatric gastrointestinal, hepatic, and nutritional problems among Filipinos.

Training Program

The section offers a 3-year fellowship program which opened in 2008. The training program with accreditation from the Philippine Pediatric Society and the Philippine Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition aims to develop gastroenterologists who provide excellent quality care and management for patients with digestive, hepatobiliary, and nutritional concerns. Under the guidance of 14 pediatric gastroenterology consultant staff, the section has produced 12 graduates as of 2023. The section also promotes quality research generation which has resulted in local and international presentations and publications.
