About Pediatric Dentistry Division

The Pediatric Dentistry Division offers dental evaluation and treatment for pediatric patients as well as to individuals with special needs. We cater patients with different developmental complications, and medical condition including patients with congenital diseases. We create an individualized treatment plan to these patients to deliver the optimum treatment outcome suited to each patient.

Services include oral rehabilitation through different behavioral management techniques including the use of sedation and general anesthesia. Our division also provides specialty procedures, including fabrication of pre-surgical appliances for patients with cleft lip and palate, such as naso-alveolar molding devices and obturators.

Training Programs Offered

The pediatric dentistry division is the only government specialty institution under the Department of Health which offers training Programs in the field of pediatric dentistry. Licensed dentists who are accepted trained in dental management of pediatric patients including those with special healthcare needs.

Fellowship Training Program

A 2-year full-time course exclusively offered to the division’s externship training program graduates, to develop the management and specialty procedures in the field of dentistry.
This includes exposure the hospital management, and interdisciplinary approaches to medical conditions. This requires a clinical research for the completion of the program.

Externship Training Program

A 6-month training program for General Practitioners to improve their management of pediatric patients in their respective clinics and hospitals.
This includes series of lectures with our specialty consultants for theoretical improvement in the field and full-time clinical course, which develops treatment and handling of pediatric patients and special health care needs patients under the supervision of fellows and consultants.
After this program, the general practitioner is expected to be able to deliver dental treatments to pediatric patients.
