In line with the section’s mission and vision to provide excellent quality care and management for patients with digestive, hepatobiliary and nutritional disorders, the fellowship program was crafted to provide of a holistic curriculum guided by a dynamic group of consultants who are leaders in the field.

The training includes monthly medical conferences involving local and international mentors to enhance knowledge and subspecialty foundation. It also provides hands on training on diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the supervision of experts within the section and other training institutions including skills on performing liver biopsy, placement and care of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, and diagnostic and advanced therapeutic endoscopy. Furthermore, it promotes quality research generation which has resulted in international presentations and publications.

The training program not only prepares fellows for future clinical practice through exposure to a wide range of subspecialty cases, and opportunities for inter-specialty collaboration with its pioneering initiative, the Gastroenterology-Multisubspecialty Symposium (GEMS), but it also provides venues to advance skills in presentation, teaching and develop organizational capabilities, producing multifaceted graduates who are able to excel in various roles in the medical field.
