The PCMC Quality, Environmental, Information Security, Occupational Health and Safety Policies are, as follows:
Quality and Environmental Policy
PCMC aims to be the premier Children’s Medical Center promoting quality and environmental awareness to achieve operational and service excellence.
To realize this, PCMC shall implement an internationally recognized integrated management system in its entire operations, processes, and services.
The PCMC shall:
- Utilize a continuous cycle of performance excellence by enabling healthcare providers, administrative, and support services in the provision of a safe and happy environment with robust work ethics, to attain professional and personal growth.
- Provide customer’s needs by keeping the employees positive and empowered, and continually improve the activities in the workplace.
- Implement global processes and best practices focusing on customer wellness and delight to drive change.
- Use a systematic review strategy that identifies and eliminates performance gaps and addresses risks and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable government standards, regulations, and other necessary requirements of the healthcare industry.
- Integrate health, wellness, and safety as the core service and business value in all aspects of hospital activities and the environment, as a competitive advantage in achieving best clinical practice outcomes, profitable fiscal growth, and significantly increased productivity leading to a self-reliant GOCC.
- Protect and care for the environment by conservation of energy, water, paper, and other hospital resources to prevent the accumulation of excessive waste and adopt sustainable practices to reduce, reuse, recycle, and practice proper wastes disposal.
Occupational Health and Safety Policy
PCMC is committed to provide and maintain a healthy and safe working environment, implement safety standards, eliminate occupational hazards, reduce occupational risks, and continuously improve the workplace setting. PCMC shall adhere to the established objectives, striving to exceed all obligations under applicable statutory and regulatory laws, by fostering an enthusiastic commitment to health, safety and the environment within PCMC, as well as ensuring consultation and participation of the PCMC healthcare workforce, workers representative, outsourced employees and visitors.
The Top Management represented by the Patient and Occupational Safety Committee, working in cooperation with the PCMC workforce representatives, shall strive to achieve the following objectives:
Reduce workplace hazards to as low as reasonably achievable.
- Provide instruction and training to the workforce to ensure that appropriate work practices are implemented including health and safety practices.
- Integrate occupational safety and preventive actions into their performance appraisal.
- Implement corrective measures, review and evaluate its effectiveness.
- Implement best practices to promote a healthy and safe environment in the workplace.
- Identify innovative measures to continuously improve working conditions.
- Ensure compliance to departmental orders and other applicable regulatory laws and issuances.
Information Communication Technology (ICT) Security Policy
PCMC recognizes the value of data, records and information, thus, it is committed to the efficient management of information communication technology security in line with existing laws and international standards.
PCMC shall preserve and protect the integrity of all data and information collected, used for but not limited to the delivery of healthcare services. All information collected shall be in accordance with legislation and with procedures PCMC has developed to ensure compliance with its obligations. This policy shall apply to all aspects of PCMC information (regardless of format) that is created, managed and received during delivery of healthcare services and other government transactions. This shall also be applied to all programs/applications used to create, manage and store records and hospital information including email, database applications, intranet and websites.
PCMC is committed to:
- Comply with all legislative and regulatory requirements
- Confidentiality of patient and staff information
- Ensure that all information is kept in a safe and secure environment
- Ensure that all information is held in a readable format for the retention period of time required by relevant legislation and PCMC retention and disposal requirements.
- Provide appropriate monitoring of access to information
- Ensure that all information collected is accurate, objective and factual
- Inform patients and their families about their right to access their health information
- Train its workforce on the management of information and awareness of their obligation
These policies shall be an integral part of performing the PCMC’s mandate, and ensure alignment with its strategic direction to continuously improve the integrated management system performance of this center.
